Directors Notes / Resources

Jacob Sanders – Series Producer/Director

This episode is the only one completely written by another marketer, Dan Beckley, who is brilliant and whipped this concept together in a weekend. I met Dan a few years ago on Twitter and met someone who was talented and tenacious, and since then we’ve stayed in touch.

In “Social Recall,” Dan deconstructs the modern social media mishegas, and throws it on Mars, all to metaphorically outline the destructive, mimetic nature of the medium.

Dan’s character, PR, is trying to keep control of the communications, but the desire for fame and inflamed narratives in humans ends up being something inescapable, no matter how advanced the technology.
